Experience
I have a curious mind and believe in learning something new everyday. I think this is why I find myself gravitating towards environments that foster learning and teaching. My favorite part of tutoring is experiencing the moment when a student's face lights up from their new-found knowledge. I have tutored groups of students in art history, United States history and German. I enjoy reading novels in German and speak at a conversational level. While earning my undergraduate degree at the University of North Texas, I tutored for several semesters and developed my own curriculum and activities that the tutor program incorporated for future use. I earned two degrees, one in anthropology and one in art history. I have had the pleasure of tutoring many students with unique learning styles and learning paces. This can be a challenge when tutoring in a group environment because you need to be able to keep everyone engaged and learning while moving at slower or faster paces than some students may be accustomed to. I believe that I am able to create a learning environment that meets each student's needs and goals. I work to make sure that the student has a personal connection to the material being covered because I believe this helps to keep the student excited about the subject and motivated to learn more.
